Syriac-Assyrian Martyrs’ Families Foundation in Hasakah, Syria, recalls martyrs of Bethnahrin National Council
HASAKAH, Syria — The Syriac-Assyrian Martyrs’ Families Foundation in Hasakah, Syria, commemorated the sacrifices made by the martyrs of the Bethnahrin National Council (Mawtbo Umthoyo D’Bethnahrin, MUB and the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) people in their national struggle.
The event drew participants from the city of Hasakah who gathered to honor and remember the MUB martyrs, as well as the martyrs of the military and security forces.
Speaking to our newsdesk, Jamil Bahho Oussi, an administrator of the Martyrs’ Families Foundation, emphasized that the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) community continues to honor the memory of its martyrs, even 24 years after the loss of the first martyr in the national struggle.
Hasna Elo, another administrator of the Martyrs’ Families Foundation, explained that the commemorative evening began with a moment of silence to pay respects to the martyrs, followed by heartfelt speeches recounting their lives and dedication.
“The attendees lit candles on the martyrs’ shrines,” she added.
