Remembering attack on Syriac Catholic Church of Our Lady of Salvation on 13th anniversary

BAGHDAD — The 31st of October marks the annual remembrance of the terrible 2010 attack on the Syriac Catholic Church of Our Lady of Salvation in Baghdad, perpetrated by the Al-Qaeda-associated Islamic State of Iraq terrorist group.

Two priests, and dozens of worshippers, security personnel, and bystanders were killed in the attack and nearly 100 others were injured.

Churches in Iraq and around the world conducted special masses and prayers in commemoration of the martyrs of the horrific attack.

This year, the commemoration comes as the community continues to mourn the recent wedding hall fire tragedy in the Nineveh Plains town of Baghdede (Qaraqosh / Hamdaniya) which claimed the lives of over 130 members of the Chaldean–Syriac–Assyrian community.
