US FBI Director Wray warns of elevated threats amid Israel-Hamas conflict

WASHINGTON, D.C. — As the conflict between Israel and Hamas continues, Director of the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Christopher Wray expressed concerns to US Congress of an increased risk of attacks on US soil.

In response to the ongoing conflict, the United States has provided support to its strategic Middle East allies, particularly Israel. This assistance has included the deployment of military experts to Tel Aviv and the reinforcement of assets in the Middle East region. Since the beginning of the recent escalation on 7 October, violent incidents targeting both Jewish and Muslim communities in the US have occurred.

The FBI stated it has taken action by apprehending an individual accused of making threats on social media to harm Jewish students at Cornell University in New York State. These events underscore the need for heightened vigilance and security measures as authorities work to address potential threats to public safety.
