Delegation from Austrian non-profit Volkshilfe surveys damage caused by Turkish attacks on North and East Syria
ZALIN, Syria — In the aftermath of the recent Turkish attacks on vital civilian infrastructure in North and East Syria, a delegation from the Austrian non-profit humanitarian organization Volkshilfe visited the Foreign Relations Commission of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) in Zalin (Qamishli).
Led by Alicia Allgäuer, project implementation lead for Volkshilfe, the delegation aimed to assess the extent of damage caused by the Turkish bombardment campaign and explore avenues for humanitarian assistance.
Samar al-Abdullah, Co-Chair of the Foreign Relations Commission, welcomed the Austrian delegation and engaged in discussions about the prevailing humanitarian situation in the region.
During the meeting, al-Abdullah presented a detailed overview of the Turkish attacks, highlighting the consequential damage that had impacted not only the economic and service sectors but also vital installations crucial for the well-being of the people of North and East Syria.
The Volkshilfe delegation embarked on a field tour, visiting the areas directly affected by the Turkish bombings. Their on-site inspection aimed to meticulously evaluate the extent of the damage incurred and gain a firsthand understanding of the humanitarian needs on the ground.
