IRAQ: Families affected by the Baghdede wedding hall fire tragedy demand an international investigation

BAGHDEDE, Iraq — Families affected by the Baghdede (Qaraqosh / Hamdaniya) wedding hall fire tragedy gathered at the Qiyama cemetery in Baghdede.

They demanded an international investigation into the painful incident that claimed the lives of hundreds of innocent people.

Chaldean Catholic Patriarch Mor Louis Rafael I Sako also called on the Iraqi government to conduct an investigation as soon as possible.

After the announcement of the preliminary results of the investigation, Syriac Catholic Archbishop of Mosul Mor Younan Hinno called for a second investigation under the supervision of international experts.

He described the results of the Iraqi interior investigation as “shameful”.
