Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan fails to get the sale of the 40 Eurofighter warplanes
BERLIN — The Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan visited Germany and met with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz. The visit included tensions on the war between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
It seems that the difference of views led to the failure of the Turkish regime to obtain the Eurofighter Typhoon warplanes.
The disagreement was clear through Erdogan’s speech at a press conference, when he stated that he could go elsewhere if Scholz did not agree.
“We can procure fighter jets from many other places,” Erdogan said.
The failure of the Turkish regime to obtain the sale is part of a series of failures, including the failure to obtain the U.S. F-35 aircraft, and the advanced F-16 aircraft.
The Defense Minister of the Turkish regime Yaşar Güler confirmed that Turkey intends to buy 40 Eurofighter warplanes, noting that he received approval from Britain and Spain.
Erdogan’s visit was seeking to get Germany’s approval, but it did not succeed.
