Syriac Women’s Union celebrates International Children’s Day in Zalin, North and East Syria
ZALIN, Syria — Marking International Children’s Day, the Syriac Women’s Union (SWU) in Syria organized festive celebrations for the children attending its kindergartens in Zalin (Qamishli), North and East Syria on Monday.
The occasion brought together kindergarten children, their families, and dedicated teaching staff. Festivities encompassed the distribution of food and sweets, engaging entertainment, playful activities, as well as singing and dancing.
Speaking to our news desk, Maika Gourieh, Director of the Zalka Kindergartens in Zalin, shared details into the celebrations.
Gourieh announced that SWU members and kindergarten staff meticulously prepared gifts for the children while teaching them various songs and dances. The staff also crafted banners illustrating children’s rights, including the right to play, education, a suitable living environment, and access to nutritious food.
Amid the challenging backdrop of regional conflicts and crises, Gourieh emphasized the kindergarten’s crucial role in imparting new skills to children, ensuring their future prospects and fostering happiness. The celebrations underscored the commitment to nurturing resilience and joy in the lives of these young learners.
