Syrian Network for Human Rights: At least 30,000 children have lost their lives in Syria since Syrian uprising
SYRIA — On International Children’s Day, the Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR), in cooperation with the monitoring and reporting mechanism of UNICEF, reported that at least 30,000 children have lost their lives in Syria since the beginning of the 2011 uprising.
The report indicated that about 200 children were killed due to torture, in addition to more than 5,000 children are still detained or forcibly disappeared.
The report pointed out that the violations committed by Syrian regime forces against children exceeded all other parties in terms of the number of crimes they committed in a typical and systematic manner.
The report also drew attention to the involvement of children in the drug trade, in particular Captagon, which is widespread in many Syrian regions, especially in areas under the control of the Syrian regime.
