Catholicos-Patriarch of Assyrian Church of the East Mor Awa III receives Russian Order of Friendship
MOSCOW —Russian president Vladimir Putin has signed a decree that awards the Order of Friendship to Catholicos-Patriarch of the Assyrian Church of the East Mor Awa III, for his contribution to preservation and development of spiritual and cultural traditions.
The document was also published on the official State Legal Information Portal.
The document stated that this award recognizes the great contribution of the patriarch to the preservation and development of spiritual and cultural traditions, as well as the promotion of peace and agreement between peoples.
There are more than 20,000 Syriacs (Arameans-Chaldeans-Assyrians) living in Russian region, including Moscow, Krasnodar and Rostov.
