Khabur Cultural Festival kicks off, bringing together cultures of ethnic components of North and East Syria

HASAKAH, Syria — On the initiative of civil society organizations and cultural centers within the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES), the Khabur Cultural Festival kicked off at the Marbella Hall in Hasakah.

The festival began with the organizers welcoming the attendees and stressing the importance of holding such events, to consolidate cultural exchange and preserve it from extinction.

The Choir of the Syriac Cultural Association and the Cultural Yekbara Band performed songs, dances and other artistic expressions which were met with positive interaction by the attendees.

Administrator of the Union of Intellectuals of Gozarto (Jazira) Region Abdul Wahab Birani delivered a speech in which he spoke about the importance of cultural diversity and events that bring together cultures in the region and contribute to strengthening the bonds of love and cohesion between the ethnic components of North and East Syria.

Poets also took the stage, reciting verses that celebrated patriotism, coexistence, and a deep pride in inherited cultures. The festival concluded with captivating theatrical performances by talented artists from the region, marking a successful celebration of cultural richness and artistic expressions.
