Syriac Women’s Union empowers dialogue on International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women
HASAKAH, Syria — To mark the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, the Syriac Women’s Union (SWU) orchestrated a symposium on violence against women. The event, held at the headquarters of the SWU Hasakah branch in North and East and attended by women from the community, representatives of the Bethnahrin National Council (Mawtbo Umthoyo D’Bethnahrin, MUB), and representatives of women’s rights organizations aimed to shed light on the significance of combating violence against women.
Estelle Murad, an administrator in the Syriac Women’s Union, emphasized the necessity of directing attention towards the crucial fight against violence on this significant day. In an interview with Suroyo TV, Murad explained that the symposium covered various topics addressing the general oppression faced by women and explored potential solutions to mitigate it.
Maha Shabo, another SWU administrator, expressed satisfaction with the positive dialogues and the active participation during the symposium. Representatives from the MUB and various women’s organizations in the region contributed to the discussions, fostering a collaborative effort to address and combat violence against women.
