USUP President Ibrahim Mrad urges international coordination and action to help solve Lebanon’s crises
BEIRUT — In a candid assessment of Lebanon’s current political landscape, Ibrahim Mrad, President of the Universal Syriac Union Party (USUP) in Lebanon, took to Facebook to express concern over what he perceives as the Iran’s increasing assertiveness in the country.
Asserting the inadequacy of internal political confrontations between sovereign and opposition forces, Mrad called for a significant diplomatic move. He proposed the formation of a Lebanese delegation to engage with the United Nations and major global powers.
Mrad emphasized that, rather than striking deals that compromise the interests of those rejecting the Iranian occupation of Lebanon, an opposition parliamentary delegation, representative of the majority of the Lebanese people, should approach the United Nations, the US, Europe, Russia, and influential Arab countries. Their objective should be to demand the implementation of UN Resolution No. 1559 and all relevant international resolutions.
Highlighting the urgency of the situation, Mrad insisted that such a delegation should unequivocally declare Lebanon’s occupation by Iran, facilitated through Hezbollah. He underscored the imperative of liberating Lebanon from this occupation and restoring the sovereignty of the nation.
