North and East Syria delegation discusses Turkish attacks with German parliamentarian
BERLIN — As part of their European tour, a delegation from the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria held a meeting in the German Parliament building with member of the Free Democratic Party (FDP) Ulrich Lechte. The discussions primarily focused on the recent Turkish attacks on the people and infrastructure of North and East Syria.
The AANES delegation, which included AANES Representative in Europe Abdul Karim Omar and Nazira Goreya, Co-Chair of the Syriac Union Party (SUP), provided updates on the latest regional developments. Emphasizing the severe human and material losses resulting from Turkish attacks, they highlighted the destabilizing impact on the region’s stability and security.
The delegation condemned the Turkey’s targeting of infrastructure as a violation of international humanitarian law. They urged Germany and the international community to extend necessary support for the reconstruction of facilities destroyed during these attacks.
Additionally, the delegation called for international support in the form of an investigative committee to assess the damage and losses caused by the occupation attacks, categorizing them as war crimes. They emphasized that such attacks only benefit the Islamic State (ISIS), allowing the group to exploit opportunities for launching attacks in the region.
Lechte expressed his party’s ongoing concern for the situation in Syria and emphasized the necessity of a political solution in alignment with international resolutions. He stressed the importance of maintaining security and stability in areas under AANES administration, asserting readiness to provide support to improve the region’s situation and to combat terrorism.
