North and East Syria delegation expresses gratitude to Catalan Parliament for official recognition

BARCELONA — A delegation from the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) conveyed heartfelt thanks to the Catalan Parliament for its official recognition of the Autonomous Administration during a visit to the Catalonia region as part of its European tour.

The delegation, comprising Co-Chair of the AANES External Relations Commission Badran Jia Kurd, AANES Representative in Europe Abdul Karim Omar, and Co-Chair of the Syriac Union Party (SUP) Nazira Goreya, met with the Presidency of the Catalan Parliament and parliamentary party bloc members.

In a statement to SyriacPress, Goreya expressed gratitude for the warm reception and highlighted discussions on shared interests between the Catalan people and the people of North and East Syria.

Goreya emphasized the delegation’s appreciation for the Catalan Parliament’s official recognition of the Autonomous Administration, underscoring the importance of oppressed peoples uniting to secure their rights and commending the success of Catalonia’s experience.

As a gesture of appreciation, the Autonomous Administration delegation presented the Catalan Parliament with a shield of thanks inscribed in four languages: Syriac, Kurdish, Arabic, and Catalan.
