Syriac Women’s Association in Turkey spreads holiday cheer with Mor Zokhe celebrations in Tur Abdin
MIDYAT, Turkey — Embracing the festive spirit of Christmas and New Year, the Syriac Women’s Association in Turkey organized lively Mor Zokhe (Santa Claus) celebrations for children in Midyat and surrounding villages in the historic Tur Abdin region in southeastern Turkey.
Two events were held last week in the villages of Midin and Bsorino. Children delighted in the presence of Mor Zokhe, who distributed gifts accompanied by festive Christmas tunes.
Continuing the joyous occasions, additional Mor Zokhe celebrations took place on Saturday in Arkah village and Midyat city. Further festivities are scheduled for this week in Hah village.
Throughout the celebrations, Mor Zokhe visited Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) children, delivering gifts and spreading holiday joy. The events featured the serving of food and sweets, along with various engaging games, creating an atmosphere of delight for the children.
