Bethnahrin Patriotic Union continues campaign for candidate Ma’rib Hanno for Iraqi provincial elections

BAGHDEDE, Iraq — In anticipation of the upcoming Iraqi provincial council elections, the Bethnahrin Patriotic Union (Huyodo Bethnahrin Athroyo, HBA), a member of the Athra Alliance, has launched a campaign to introduce candidate Ma’rib Hanno and promote his electoral program. The party has strategically distributed papers and erected banners in Nineveh Plains, with a particular focus on the town of Baghdede (Qaraqosh / Hamdaniya), seeking to garner support for their candidate.

Samer Chamoun, the official representative of the HBA in Baghdede, shared insights during an interview with Suroyo TV. He affirmed the Athra Alliance’s commitment to supporting provincial council candidates and outlined ongoing preparations, which include widespread placement of banners and distribution of informative leaflets championing the candidacy of Ma’rib Hanno.

Chamoun elaborated on the diversity within the Athra Alliance, highlighting its composition of five parties: Bethnahrin Patriotic Union (Huyodo Bethnahrin Athroyo, HBA), the Assyrian Patriotic Party, Abnaa al-Nahrain, the Assyrian Democratic Movement (Zowaa), and the Chaldean–Syriac–Assyrian Popular Council.

The Alliance has put forward three candidates to represent the interests of their community in the upcoming elections.

As the campaign gains momentum, the HBA aims to engage the public, emphasizing the collective strength and representation provided by their diverse coalition. The focus remains on fostering awareness of Ma’rib Hanno’s candidacy and the electoral agenda, encouraging active participation and support from the residents of Nineveh Plains and beyond.
