Suroyo TV marks 19 years of Syriac broadcasting with honor for distinguished educator Khuroyo Quryqus Hanna
BARTELLA, Iraq — In commemoration of its 19th anniversary, Suroyo TV, through its Iraq office, presented a commemorative shield to Khuroyo Quryqus Hanna al-Taraji al-Bartelli, recognizing his outstanding contributions to Syriac language education and his literary works encompassing history, heritage, and poetry.
The decision to honor Khuroyo al-Bartelli was based on his remarkable achievements, setting him apart as a luminary in the promotion and preservation of the Syriac cultural heritage. The shield was presented by Ma’rib Imad Hanno, the Athra Alliance candidate for Nineveh Province in the upcoming provincial elections.
Expressing gratitude for the recognition, Khuroyo al-Bartelli lauded Suroyo TV’s pivotal role in fostering communication within the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) community, bridging East and West. He highlighted the channel’s impactful endeavors in propagating the Syriac language through its educational and cultural programs, as well as its dedicated coverage of social and ecclesiastical affairs.
The celebratory event took place at the headquarters of the Bethnahrin Patriotic Union (Huyodo Bethnahrin Athroyo, HBA) in Bartella. Attended by Suroyo TV representatives in Iraq and members of HBA from Baghdede, Bartella, and Alqosh, the ceremony underscored the channel’s enduring commitment to preserving and promoting Syriac cultural heritage over nearly two decades.
