Family Center in Zalin (Qamishli), North and East Syria, holds exhibition of women’s handicrafts at Christmas fair
ZALIN, Syria — Marking the festive season, the Family Center in Zalin (Qamishli), North and East Syria, affiliated with the Syriac Cross Organization for Relief and Development, inaugurated the first day of its Christmas Fair. Women and young women from the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) community participated in the event, showcasing a variety of handcrafted items in anticipation of Christmas and New Year.
As part of its annual tradition, the Family Center organized a two-day exhibition, featuring the artistic creations of women, including wood paintings, confectioneries, sculptures, and holiday decorations.
The festive activities commenced with a joyful celebration for the center’s children, complete with Christmas songs and the distribution of sweets and gifts, actively involving their mothers.
The highlight of the event was the Christmas Bazaar, where participants had the opportunity to sell their handmade crafts.
Christabel Assal, Head of the Family Center, shared insights in an interview with Suroyo TV, emphasizing the exhibition’s significance in promoting women’s handicrafts and showcasing the talents of Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) women and young artisans.
Artists Maryam Youssef, Orshina Shabo, and Gabriella Shabo, who contributed to the exhibition, expressed their thoughts on participation, discussing their works and extending warm wishes to the community for Christmas and the New Year.
