Syriac Military Council mourns loss of fighter Shamoun Nidal Shamoun

NORTH AND EAST SYRIA — With the beginning of the New Year, the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) community received somber news of the martyrdom of Shamoun Nidal Shamoun, a member of the Syriac Military Council (Mawtbo Fulhoyo Suryoyo, MFS).

In a public statement, MFS expressed deep sorrow for the loss of their devoted fighter, known by his nom de guerre, Aram. Born in 1999 in Qabre Hewore (Qahtaniyah), North and East Syria, Aram was the son of Nidal Shamoun and Hilwa Danho.

Having joined the ranks of the MFS on 10 January 2017, Aram quickly became recognized for his courage and unwavering commitment to defending the rights of the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) people. His dedication was evident in his active participation alongside MFS comrades in the ongoing struggle.

The funeral for the martyr took place on Monday at 3:00 p.m. in the Virgin Mary Church in Qabre Hewore. As the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) community and MFS members bid farewell to Aram, a funeral prayer is scheduled to be held in the same church on Tuesday morning.
