Institutions of Beth Nahrin National Council visit new Syriac Orthodox archbishop of Sweden and Scandinavia
STOCKHOLM — A delegation that consisted of representatives of the European Syriac Union (ESU), Beth Nahrin Women’s Union (Huyodo d’Neshe d’Bethnahrin, HNB) and Suroyo Media Foundation visited the Syriac Orthodox Archdiocese of Sweden and Scandinavia to congratulate the newly-appointed archbishop Mor Yohanon Lahdo.
The delegation was received by the archbishop, representatives of the archdiocese and the Mor Jacob Women Committee, at the archdiocese headquarters.
Member of the Suroyo TV Administrative Committee Rima Asmar presented a congratulatory shield written in Syriac to the new archbishop.
Mor Yohanon Lahdo commended the Suroyo TV work since its establishment about twenty years ago, stressing that the Syriac (Aramean-Chaldean-Assyrian) people also praise Suroyo TV due to its importance for the Syriac language.

They discussed TV programs in the Syriac language, including the religious programs. Representative of Bethnahrin National Council (Mawtbo Umthoyo D’Bethnahrin, MUB) Metin Rhawi introduced the MUB institutions in the homeland and diaspora and briefed their work for the national struggle of Syriac people.
The archbishop, in turn, stressed the importance of enhancing the Syriac language in areas of presence of the Syriac people.
The two sides expressed their readiness to carry out joint projects and works that serve the common interest of Syriac people.
