North and East Syria officials hold US and Russia accountable for continued Turkish attacks
NORTH AND EAST SYRIA — Co-Chair of the Foreign Relations Commission of the Democratic Autonomous Administration of the Region of North and East Syria (DAARNES) Badran Jia Kurd placed responsibility for the ongoing Turkish attacks on North and East Syria on the unwillingness of the US and Russia to hold Turkey accountable.
As Turkey persists in its bombing campaigns, targeting vital civilian infrastructure in North and East Syria ostensibly in revenge for the deaths of Turkish soldiers in northern Iraq, the US and Russia have done little to nothing to intervene. The attacks have, again , knocked out power and water to large swathes of North and East Syria.
Jia Kurd condemned the Turkish attacks as intentional war crimes, urging the prosecution of Turkish officials responsible for ordering the attacks.
Highlighting the urgency of the situation, Jia Kurd called upon the United States and Russia to exert pressure on Turkey to cease its aggressive actions in the region. He emphasized the commitment of their forces to retaliate against hostile attacks in areas controlled by Turkey and its affiliated factions.
In a broader call to action, Jia Kurd urged the United States and Russia to bring this critical issue to the attention of the Security Council. He called for decisive action against the party violating the ceasefire resolution issued by the Security Council regarding Syria, citing UN Security Council Resolution No. 12254 as the basis for such intervention.
