Chaldean Church in Iraq launches Week of Prayer for Christians Unity
BAGHDAD — After weeks of preparations, Chaldean Patriarchal Vicar in Baghdad Mor Baselios Yeldo, at the invitation of Chaldean Patriarch Mor Louis Raphael Sako, opened the Week of Prayer for Christians Unity, at Monastery of Chaldean Nuns in Baghdad.
The week was entitled, “Love the Lord Your God, Love Your Neighbor as You Love Yourself.” It was attended by priests, nuns, and a large gathering of believers.
The week was opened with a hymn and a welcoming speech. It included readings from the Bible, meditation and the Lord’s prayer.
Archbishop Yeldo delivered a sermon in which he stressed that unity requires a deep journey of faith and sincere repentance from all.
The archbishop pointed out that unity does not cancel diversity, and diversity is a richness that reflects beauty of apostolic rituals, languages and traditions.
Archbishop Yeldo stressed that unity means following Jesus Christ principles, not personal interests.
