Turkish warplanes bombed evacuated villages in Amadiya, Iraq
NOHADRA, Iraq — The Turkish warplanes bombed the villages of Spindara khalfo, Maji, kafnai Maji and Karakash in the Brikari area of the Amadiya District in Nohadra (Duhok) in northern Iraq.
In comments to Rudaw Media Network, Qahhar Michael, Mayor of the village of Spindara khalfo and representative of the 4 villages, stated that administrative and security officials informed them to evacuate those villages.
He pointed out that there were 120 houses in the mentioned villages, but only 4 families are left. The rest have left their homes, and they only return to for agricultural work.
Michael pointed out that no one remained in those villages on Wednesday. Some families returned to their villages on Thursday morning in order to take their supplies, and they stated that the Turkish warplanes bombed their villages.
“At least 5 houses and a school were demolished. Other houses were damaged,” he said. “I can say that the losses of villagers amounted to hundreds of millions.”
Michael called on officials and international organizations to provide relief and find a solution to their situation.
Earlier, the fighting escalated between fighters of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (Partiya Karkerên Kurdistanê,PKK) and the Turkish Army in the region.
