Christian Front in Lebanon condemns Hezbollah and Amal Movement’s encroachment on Christian rights, calls for formation of Patriotic Front to confront Iranian influence

BEIRUT — During its periodic meeting at its headquarters in Beirut’s Achrafieh neighborhood, the Christian Front in Lebanon highlighted concerns over the infringement of Christian rights by Hezbollah and the Amal Movement, backed by the threat of Iranian weapons.

The Christian Front strongly emphasized that the authoritarian actions carried out by both Shia groups encroaching on Christian rights follow an earlier pattern of political and military violations against the Sunni community and, to some extent, the Druze community.

“Hezbollah drags Lebanon into wars for its own benefit, bringing destruction and displacement, all to ensure Iran’s continued dominance at the negotiating table, at the expense of Lebanon and its people,” stated the Christian Front.

Seeking intervention and a united response, the Christian Front urged Syriac Maronite Patriarch Mor Bechara Butros al-Rai to issue an immediate and explicit call for a gathering of religious, political, and parliamentary authorities to sign a document committing to the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution No. 1559.

The Christian Front also proposed forming a comprehensive Patriotic Front to counteract Iranian influence and protect Lebanon’s sovereignty.
