Syriac Orthodox Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II presides over sanctification of Mor Basilius Church in India
YELAHANKA, India — Syriac Orthodox Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II embarked on a significant visit to the Syriac Church in India, where he presided over the sanctification of Mor Basilius Church in Yelahanka.
Upon his arrival at Bangalore Airport on Thursday morning, the Patriarch commenced his visit, accompanied by Bishop Mor Christoforos Mark Abraham and Bishop Mor Okin El-Khoury Nemat, both serving as Patriarchal Secretaries for Church Affairs in India, along with Deacon Elie El Zouki.
In the afternoon of the same day, the Patriarch led the sanctification ceremonies of Mor Basilius Church in Yelahanka. The event drew a large gathering of clergy and devoted members of the Church in India.
During the ceremonies, Patriarch Aphrem II conducted the prayers for the church’s sanctification, imparting spiritual significance to the momentous occasion.
Offering his heartfelt congratulations to the Church community in Yelahanka on the opening and sanctification of Mor Basilius Church, Patriarch Aphrem II, in his prayers, invoked divine blessings for the continued preservation of the Syriac Orthodox Church in India.
