One dead in armed attack on Catholic Church in Istanbul during Sunday service
ISTANBUL — On Sunday, two masked assailants carried out an armed attack on a Catholic church in Istanbul’s Sarıyer district during a religious services resulting in the tragic death of one person.
The attack unfolded at approximately 11:40 am local time.
Television footage captured scenes of police and an ambulance stationed outside the targeted church.
Turkey’s Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya identified the victim only as C.T., stating that the victim had been present at the Sunday service when the assailants struck.
