People of Hasakah, North and East Syria, bid farewell to Martyr Severius in solemn funeral ceremony
HASAKAH, Syriac — In an emotional gathering, the residents of Hasakah, North and East Syria, came together to honor the memory of Martyr Ali Salih al-Beyd, nom de guerre Severius, a member of the Syriac Military Council (Mawtbo Fulhoyo Suryoyo, MFS). The funeral service took place at the Martyrs’ Shrine in the Nasira neighborhood.
Representatives from various institutions, including the Bethnahrin National Council (Mawtbo Umthoyo D’Bethnahrin, MUB), the Syriac Union Party (SUP), and officials from the Democratic Autonomous Administration of the Region of North and East Syria (DAARNES), joined political parties and members of the public in paying their respects.
The ceremony commenced with a minute of silence dedicated to the martyrs of North and East Syria, followed by a heartfelt speech from Maha Shabo of the SUP. She emphasized that martyrdom is the path to victory and life, expressing the collective sorrow at bidding farewell to Ali.
“We stand today in this blessed place to say goodbye to our martyr, Ali, who joins the other martyrs,” she added, reaffirming the commitment to continue on the path paved by the martyrs until achieving victory.
Abjar Nohomo, a leader of the MFS, delivered a speech acknowledging the martyrs as guiding lights for the journey towards freedom and national liberation. Offering condolences to Martyr Severius’ family, Nohomo highlighted the significance of their sacrifice.
Bahaa Benjamin, representing the Families of the Syriac-Assyrian Martyrs Foundation, expressed that martyrdom is a profound commitment to defending principles, as he delivered a moving speech.
Following the speeches, the body of Martyr Severius was laid to rest, and the MFS extended condolences to the martyr’s family at the funeral tent erected in front of his house.
