BEIRUT — After the approval of the General Budget of the Lebanese government, a delegation from the Sovereign Front for Lebanon visited Syriac Maronite Patriarch Mor Bechara Butros al-Rai at the Patriarchal Edifice in Beth Kerke (Bkerke).
During the meeting, MP Camille Chamoun expressed suspicion about the Budget Session, vehemently opposing any increase in taxes on citizens already grappling with the challenges of securing basic living conditions. This includes the added burdens of rising medication costs and escalating fees for education at schools and universities.
Both sides called for a nationwide civil disobedience movement that transcends denominational boundaries should the exploitation of the people and embezzlement of their wealth persist. Chamoun emphasized that there are limits to the endurance of the Lebanese populace, urging government officials to recognize the gravity of the situation and act accordingly.
