Two gunmen killed, 6 people injured in attack on police checkpoint in front of Istanbul courthouse
ISTANBUL — The Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced that a man and a woman were killed during their attempted attack on a security checkpoint at the Kağıthane court in Istanbul, Turkey. Among the 6 injured were 3 police officers.
Kağıthane, the Palace of Justice, is a huge judicial complex located on the European side of Istanbul.
“The terrorist attack was carried out by the left-wing Revolutionary Liberation Party,” the Minister said.
The Revolutionary People’s Liberation Party/Front (DHKP/C) is classified as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the US, and the European Union.
Turkish Justice Minister Yilmaz Tonc announced that prosecutors had initiated a comprehensive investigation into the attempted assault, underscoring the nation’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of its citizens and institutions.
