Syriac Progressive Youth Union gears up for 3rd conference in Zalin, North and East Syria
ZALIN, North and East Syria — Amidst preparations for its upcoming 3rd conference, the Syriac Progressive Youth Union established a preparatory committee encompassing representatives from all regions, announced Co-Chair Mariana Issa in a statement to SyriacPress.
Issa elaborated on the committee’s initial tasks, which include compiling requisite official documentation for the conference and deliberating proposals to refine certain articles and clauses within the Union’s bylaws. Emphasis has also been placed on crafting a comprehensive report spanning previous years’ activities and outlining a forward-looking agenda to guide the Union’s endeavors in the forthcoming years.
Central to the union’s mission, Issa underscored a commitment to fostering robust educational opportunities and equipping youth with the knowledge and skills necessary for a prosperous and enlightened future. Furthermore, she stressed the imperative of empowering young voices in the decision-making process and cultivating a sense of accountability among them.
Anticipating a diverse array of discussions, the 3rd conference is poised to welcome participation from youth institutions representing the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) community, alongside youth movements representing various ethnic backgrounds. Notably, the event will also feature the engagement of prominent youth public figures from the region.
Expressing optimism for the conference’s outcomes, Issa expressed hope that it would yield actionable recommendations to fortify the Union’s trajectory and position it as a catalyst for constructive societal change. She reiterated her aspirations for the union to assume a prominent role in fostering innovative ideas and initiatives within the community.
