Syriac Orthodox Archbishop hails coexistence in North and East Syria, emphasizes unity at Yezidi Conference
HASAKAH, North and East Syria — Participating in the Sixth Conference of the Yezidi House in the Gozarto District, Syriac Orthodox Archbishop of the Diocese of Gozarto (Jazira) and Euphrates extolled the ethos of coexistence nurtured under the Democratic Autonomous Administration of the Region of North and East Syria (DAARNES), underscoring its significance in promoting harmony and understanding among communities.
Archbishop Amsih lauded the convening of the conference, held in Hasakah under the theme Survival and Adherence to the Land, with the Return of Expatriates as Our Paramount Goal. He expressed heartfelt congratulations on this significant occasion.
Delivering an address at the conference, he reflected on the cherished bonds of fraternity that have been ingrained in the hearts of the people, passed down through generations. He emphasized the importance of cherishing the land and fostering mutual affection, echoing the timeless wisdom of Jesus Christ to love one another as He has loved us.
In a testament to the region’s vibrant mosaic of identities, Archbishop Amsih paid tribute to the contributions of Syriacs (Arameans–Assyrians–Chaldeans), Kurds, Arabs, Yezidis, Armenians, and all constituents of the Gozarto community.
Drawing inspiration from the region’s rich historical legacy, the Archbishop invoked the enduring legacy of Beth Nahrin (Mesopotamia) as the cradle of civilization, bestowing upon the world its profound cultural heritage and intellectual legacy. He underscored the imperative of nurturing peace and unity, especially in a region that stands as a beacon of global civilization, revered for its enduring contributions to human progress and enlightenment.
