Forum of Peoples’ Religions and Beliefs engages in dialogue with Suroyo Media Foundation to foster interfaith understanding in North and East Syria
ZALIN, North and East Syria — Following its inception, anchored in the principles of the new Social Contract adopted in North and East Syria, a delegation from the Forum of Peoples’ Religions and Beliefs embarked on a visit to the headquarters of the Suroyo Media Foundation (SMF) in Zalin (Qamishli), North and East Syria.
Led by the Forum’s Chairman, alongside esteemed members and representatives including Maryam Lahdo and Aliya Musa, the delegation was warmly received by Simel Samuel, SMF’s General Official in Syria, along with administrators Hala Mirza, Renia Malki, and Suhel Bahho.
During the visit, the delegation outlined the Forum’s mission and objectives, centered on fostering closer bonds among religious and belief systems while dispelling misconceptions and erroneous stereotypes prevalent in society.
Discussions between the two parties delved into the current level of community awareness and inter-religious tolerance within North and East Syria, with a focus on identifying strategies to overcome existing obstacles and promote greater societal openness.
Both sides underscored the importance of regular exchanges and collaboration, emphasizing SMF’s role in disseminating programs aimed at enhancing religious awareness and fostering a culture of tolerance and understanding that rejects hatred.
