President of Bethnahrin National Council encourages Syriac youth to uphold struggle for rights and independence

BETH NAHRIN — Hawro (Comrade) Naim Michael Hadodo, President of the Bethnahrin National Council (Mawtbo Umthoyo D’Bethnahrin, MUB), delivered an address to Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) youth during the 3rd Conference of the Syriac Progressive Youth Union in Syria.

Hadodo emphasized the pivotal role of Syriac youth as the cornerstone of the community, a sentiment rooted in the founding ethos and ongoing struggle of the MUB.

He stressed that the national struggle path began in difficult circumstances, including loss of sense of nationalism and lack of desire of the people to return to their homeland.

Hadodo noted that the MUB founders at that time were no older than 25 years old, and for this reason the MUB members are struggling with the spirit of youth until now.

He stated that the MUB gave many martyrs, especially in Syria, such as Martyr Athro who gave his life after showing unparalleled resistance in Hasakah, as well as Martyr Christian who returned from Europe to participate in struggle in Syria, and Martyr Ayob and other martyrs of the struggle.

He added that the struggle that has been going on for 40 years and the blood of the martyrs has not been in vain, because they have resulted in organized youth who have been struggling and providing martyrs to uphold the cause of the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) people and achieve their rights.

Hadodo stressed the need to continue supporting the spirit of youth, with its progressive, nationalistic, and loving character, by upholding the national interest, then the political interest and then the personal interest.

“We are open to cooperation with all peoples and parties, but what we refuse is to rely on the management of another party. We seek to create a special force for the Syriac people and enable them to manage their own affairs, along with other peoples,” he continued. “Youth is the future of our people. Without independence in managing the people’s affairs, the people, their achievements, history and struggle will disappear. So, every young man and woman should raise the banners of struggle, martyrdom and readiness, because they are the only guarantors of our people future.”

He stressed that MUB comrades and martyrs call us to remove fear from our hearts, respond to all developments and ongoing wars in the Middle East and send a strong message to the whole world, that we are present, active and influential in the region.

“If the Syriac youth follow the MUB approach, philosophy and struggle, they will ensure the future of Syriac people, and will prepare to face the next stage, which will be more difficult, by raising their organizational level together,” Hadodo concluded.
