Democratic Peoples’ Council discusses formation of provincial bodies in North and East Syria
NORTH AND EAST SYRIA — The Democratic Peoples’ Council of the Democratic Autonomous Administration of the Region of North and East Syria (DAARNES) convened to deliberate on the establishment of provincial councils across the North and East Syria, gathering representatives from various councils, bodies, and committees.
Held on Wednesday, the meeting saw the participation of the Office of the Social Contract Drafting Committee, Co-Chairships of the Executive Councils of the seven cantons, and representatives from other DAARNES bodies.
Siham Quryo, Co-Chair of the Democratic Peoples’ Council, provided insights into the meeting’s proceedings, highlighting its objective of implementing the provisions of the social contract following its ratification by the People’s Democratic Council.
Quryo disclosed that the meeting resulted in the enactment of legislation outlining the formation mechanism for councils within both bodies and provinces, aligning with the principles laid out in the Social Contract.
Concluding her remarks, Quryo outlined several recommendations stemming from the meeting, including the formulation of laws governing the powers of council bodies, training initiatives for implementing the social contract’s provisions, and the establishment of new bodies such as those dedicated to martyrs and religious beliefs.
