Kyrgyz delegation visits North and East Syria, discusses Turkish attacks and repatriates Kyrgyz nationals affiliated with ISIS
ZALIN, North and East Syria — Led by Bakit Kadyrov, a representative of the Kyrgyzstan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a delegation from Kyrgyzstan visited North and East Syria.
The delegation was warmly received by Rubel Bahho, Deputy Co-Chair of the Foreign Relations Commission, Khaled Ibrahim, a member of the Commission’s Administrative Body, and Lana Hussein, a representative of the Women’s Protection Units (Yekîneyên Parastina Jin, YPJ).
Bahho addressed the delegation, highlighting the devastating impact of Turkish attacks on the areas governed by the Democratic Autonomous Administration of the Region of North and East Syria (DAARNES). These attacks, Bahho emphasized, systematically destroy the region’s diverse ethnic components and livelihoods, with the ultimate goal of displacing its residents. He condemned these assaults as blatant violations of international law, exacerbated by the silence of the international community.
Furthermore, Bahho underscored how Turkish attacks hinder the ongoing battle against the Islamic State (ISIS) and impede efforts to repatriate families associated with ISIS.
In response, Kadyrov commended the DAARNES and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) for their relentless efforts in combating ISIS. He expressed gratitude for their support in facilitating the repatriation process for Kyrgyz nationals.
Concluding the meeting, an official document was signed between the two parties transferring custody of 72 children and 27 women affiliated with ISIS families to the Kyrgyz delegation.
