Syrian regime condemns Turkey’s policy of cutting off water to Hasakah

HASAKAH, North and East Syria — Turkey continues its illegal and indiscriminate targeting of civilians in North and East Syria by cutting off water from more than a million people. Since its occupation of Rish Ayno (Ras al-Ayn) and its taking control over the Alouk water pumping station in 2019, Turkey and its proxies in the Syrian National Army (SNA) have cutoff the flow of water 40 times.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Syrian regime called on the international community to take immediate action to stop the Turkish policy, which threatens to cause a massive environmental and humanitarian catastrophe in the region.

The Ministry called for taking the necessary measures to re-secure drinking water for people of Hasakah, stressing that Turkey aims to achieve its political goals through making the area unlivable.

Since its occupation of Syrian territory, Turkey continued to weaponize water and use water as a pressure to thirst a million citizens in Hasakah and its countryside, in another face of the Turkish war of extermination.
