Session on importance of Syriac language preservation held in Dayrik, North and East Syria

DAYRIK, North and East Syria — The Olaf Taw Association for Syriac Language, in collaboration with the Center for Syriac Strategic Studies, organized a session on the importance and preservation of the Syriac language in Dayrik (Derik / Malikiyah), North and East Syria.

The session attracted numerous members of the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) public.

Gabriel Ibrahim Lahdo, an official from the Dayrik Branch of the Olaf Taw Association, stated to our newsdesk that the session addressed the current state of the Syriac language in the region and globally, the challenges it faces, and its future prospects.

Lahdo further mentioned that they have initiated courses to train Syriac language teachers. Additionally, they are considering launching summer courses for children aimed at fostering interest in the Syriac language and preserving it for future generations.

This session is part of a series of lectures organized by the Olaf Taw Association for Syriac Language and the Center for Syriac Strategic Studies.
