Tur Izlo (Mount Izla) churches property in Tur Abdin registered under Mor Gabriel Monastery Endowments
TUR ABDIN, Turkey — The Mor Augin Monastery in Tur Izlo (Mount Izla) and Mor Yacuob Church in Nusaybin in Turkey were previously registered under the Endowments of the Syriac (Aramean-Chaldean-Assyrian) people, by Mor Philoxenos Yohanon Dolabani, Syriac Orthodox Archbishop of the Saffron Monastery in Tur Abdin.
Later, they were registered as ” without owners” in the Property Law under Mardin Endowments in 1950.
In the past few years, officials of the Dayro d-Mor Gabriel (Mor Gabriel Monastery) had requested to include the Mor Augin Monastery and Mor Yacuob Church under the Mor Gabriel Monastery Endowment.
After discussions and interventions from the Turkish government, it was officially decided to include the Mor Augin Monastery and Mor Yacuob Church under the Endowment of Dayro d-Mor Gabriel (Mor Gabriel Monastery).
