Bethnahrin National Council honors Sutoro martyrs in Switzerland
BADEN, Switzerland — The Switzerland branch of the Bethnahrin National Council (Mawtbo Umthoyo D’Bethnahrin, MUB) honored the memory of the Syriac Security Forces (Sutoro) martyrs killed in a Turkish drone strike in Dayrik (Derik / Malikiyah), North and East Syria.
The event, held at the Syriac Cultural Center in Baden, Switzerland, commenced with a minute of silence to honor the souls of the martyrs. Following this, Father Michael Aziz led a prayer for the fallen.
Lukas Sagor, representing the European Syriac Union (ESU), then read out a telegram from the MUB. The letter condemned the attacks perpetrated by Turkey, its proxies, and the terrorists of the Islamic State (ISIS) since 2014, including mass massacres and attempts at demographic change in North and East Syria.
The MUB highlighted the valiant efforts of the Sutoro and the Syriac Military Council (Mawtbo Fulhoyo Suryoyo, MFS) in various regions of North and East Syria in combating terrorist organizations.
The MUB’s letter urged the United States, the European Union, and all international powers to take urgent action to halt Turkey’s attacks on North and East Syria.
Following the reading of the letter, Shleymun Rhawi, the MUB representative in Switzerland, delivered a speech reaffirming the resilience of the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) people in the face of historical adversity. He emphasized their steadfastness and continued struggle against exclusionary policies, despite enduring centuries of persecution, and commemorated the sacrifices made by martyrs.
