FC Tur Abdin-Babylon Pohlheim hosts event for Syriac football clubs
POLHEIM, Germany — Football Club Tur Abdin-Babylon Pohlheim organized an event for Syriac football clubs from across Giessen, Germany, to garner support for their teams. The event took place in the hall of Mor Elijah Church in Pohlheim, Germany.
The event commenced with a speech by the head of FC Tur Abdin-Babylon Pohlheim, Aziz Kartal.
“This club serves as a gathering center for Syriac [Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean] people,” stated Kartal. “The aim of this event is to bring joy to the hearts of Syriac youth and foster closer bonds among them.”
Kartal addressed the situation of clubs, teams, and players, expressing gratitude to the club’s supporters, with special acknowledgment to Suroyo TV for covering the club’s activities and events.
Father Lahdo Aydin, pastor of Mor Afram Church, delivered a speech on behalf of clergy from Giessen.
Singer Matay Acar performed folkloric songs, accompanied by food, drinks, and a lottery contest.
The event saw the participation of members from the four local church councils in Giessen, including those from Mor Elijah Church, Mor Hoshabo Church, Mor Barsomo Church, and Mor Afram Theodoros Church.
Additionally, Syriac youth who are members of German political parties were also in attendance.
