Syriac Orthodox Archbishop Mor Maurice Amsih visits villages of Qabre Hewore, North and East Syria

QABRE HEWORE, Syria — Syriac Orthodox Archbishop of Gozarto (Jazira) and Euphrates, Mor Maurice Amsih, undertook a series of visits to inspect the condition of the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) people in Qabre Hewore (Qahtaniyah) and surrounding villages in North and East Syria.

Accompanied by Father Samaan Issa of the Virgin Mary Church in Qabre Hewore, Archbishop Amsih toured the churches of Mor Augin, Mor Shalito, and Mor Ulugh in Ger Sheran village, where they conducted a Divine Liturgy.

Expressing gratitude, the Archbishop thanked the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) people residing across Gozarto (Jazira) region who have chosen to remain steadfast in their homeland rather than migrating.

Archbishop Amsih also visited the Virgin Mary Church in Al-Shalhoumiya village and the Mor Malke Church in Gharduka village, offering prayers for the souls of the departed.

During his visit, he also inspected the Al-Amal School, engaging with students and faculty to address educational matters.
