Chaldean Patriarch Mar Louis Raphael Sako meets with Italian Ambassador to Iraq
ERBIL, Kurdistan Region of Iraq — In a recent meeting, Chaldean Patriarch Mar Louis Raphael Sako welcomed the Italian Ambassador to Iraq, Maurizio Greganti, and his accompanying delegation.
During the meeting, the two parties engaged in discussions regarding the ongoing crisis in Iraq and the wider region. They explored avenues for promoting dialogue to address these challenges effectively.
Additionally, they deliberated on the ramifications of the withdrawal of the 2013 Republican Decree No. 147, which pertained to the recognition of Patriarch Sako as the head of the Chaldean Church in Iraq and worldwide. They also discussed other related decrees and their impact on the Christian community.
Furthermore, the issue of continued emigration among Christians from Iraq due to issues such as exclusion, marginalization, and the denial of their national rights was addressed.
The meeting was also attended by Chaldean Archbishop of Urmia in Iran, Mor Thomas Meram.
