Syriac Orthodox leaders in Sweden forge stronger ties in meeting

SÖDERTÄLJE, Sweden — The Syriac Orthodox Archbishop of Sweden and Scandinavia, Mor Yohanon Lahdo, alongside Archbishop Mor Dioscorus Benjamin Atash, convened with the church councils and priests in Södertälje to bolster relations between their communities.

Representatives from the Syriac Orthodox churches of Mor Ephrem and Mor Yacoub in Sweden came together for a shared breakfast, followed by a visit to the Sayfo Monument at the Mor Ephrem Church in the Ginetta neighborhood, where they held a prayer to honor the souls of the martyrs.

Later, they gathered for discussions on the state of the Syriac Orthodox Church and the potential for unifying religious festivities.

In a separate meeting, representatives from the councils of the two churches underscored the importance of fortifying ties between their respective congregations and collaborating to serve the Syriac people more effectively.
