TURKEY: Syriac Women’s Center in Tur Abdin provides school bags for children of Arkah village

ARKAH, Turkey — In Arkah, Turkey, in the historic Tur Abdin region, the German-based Association of Middle East Christian Support, in collaboration with the Syriac Women’s Center in Turkey (Süryani Kadın Derneği Üyesi, SÜRKADİM), distributed school bags ahead of the Easter holiday.

In the presence of village priests Fathers Elio Çelik and Father Afram Korkonj, the two associations gathered kindergarten children and 4th-grade pupils at the Church of Mor Ephrem and Mor Theodoros, where they distributed bags to the students.

The priests expressed gratitude to the associations for their efforts in bringing happiness to the children.

The Association of Middle East Christian Support regularly organizes humanitarian events to support Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) communities across Beth Nahrin (Mesopotamia). Last year, in collaboration with SÜRKADİM, they distributed jackets to children in Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) villages in Tur Abdin, ranging from ages 3 to 15 years old.
