Demonstrations against HTS and al-Jolani persist in northwestern Syria

HOLEB and EDLEB, Syria — The demonstrations against the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) and its leader Abu Mohammed al-Jolani continue in regions of northwestern Syria, as a result of repression, taxes and violations by the HTS Security Services.

Dozens of civilians came out in protests against HTS in Darat Aza in the countryside of Holeb (Aleppo), as well as the camps of Ariha, Harem, Al-Faua, Mashhad Ruhin and Kafr Takharim.

The demonstrators demanded the removal of al-Jolani, an end to injustice, cessation of HTS Security Forces’ violations, release of innocent prisoners, fair and prompt trials for detainees, cessation of torture, and reduction of fees and taxes.

Since 27 February, people in northwestern Syria have been demonstrating in Edleb (Idlib), Holeb, and the surrounding countryside.

Hundreds of activists have been participating in demonstrating against the HTS.
