US: California’s Stanislaus County recognizes April as Assyrian Heritage Month
MODESTO, California, US — For over 130 years, the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) community has thrived in Stanislaus County, California, US.
Dr. Ishak Adam was the community’s pioneer settler.
Today, Stanislaus County is home to approximately 50,000 people with Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) heritage, deeply connected to their ancient cultural heritage.
Each year, the community celebrates Akitu, the Babylonian Syriac–Assyrian New Year.
This year’s celebration held even greater significance, as Stanislaus County formally recognized April as Assyrian Heritage Month, a cultural month dedicated to Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) heritage.
In response, the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) community expressed profound gratitude to the county government for acknowledging their contributions as US citizens and honoring the significance of Akitu.
