Syriac Orthodox Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II inaugurates new section of Holy Cross Monastery in Sednaya, Syria

DARAMSUQ — Syriac Orthodox Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II presided over the inauguration of a new section within the Holy Cross Monastery atop the mountains of Sednaya in the countryside of Daramsuq (Damascus).

Joined by a gathering of bishops from across the globe, the Patriarch unveiled the new facility, which includes a church, monk quarters, visitor lodgings, and amenities for conducting church activities. Several bishops representing various dioceses of the Syriac Orthodox Church were also present to mark the occasion.

Offering his blessings, Patriarch Aphrem emphasized the significance of the new department, poised to cater to believers from Sednaya, Maarat Sednaya, Daramsuq, and beyond. The facility aims to serve as a hub for spiritual enlightenment, community outreach, language instruction, and prayer, fostering a sense of unity among the faithful both locally and internationally.
