Human Rights Watch calls for a thorough and transparent investigation into Lebanese Forces Official’s murder
BEIRUT — Amid the deteriorated security situation in Lebanon due to the murder of the Lebanese Forces Party Coordinator Pascal Suleiman, a researcher on Lebanese Affairs at Human Rights Watch (HRW) Ramzi Kaiss called for a thorough and transparent investigation into the incident.
Kaiss also warned against attempts to make the Syrian refugees a scapegoat in the incident.
“Such attempts threaten to inflame the ongoing violence against Syrians, who have been subjected to discriminatory practices and violations in Lebanon for years,” Kaiss stated.
In related news, former Lebanese MP Misbah al-Ahdab confirmed that there are parties that want to implicate the Lebanese military institutions and the Lebanese people in a confrontation with more than a million Syrian refugees in Lebanon.
Al-Ahdab called on the Lebanese government to return the Syrian regime supporters to regime-held areas and the Syrian opposition supporters to opposition areas of control in Syria.
