Patriarchate of Ancient Church of The East condemns heinous attack against Mar Mari Emmanuel

SYDNEY —  Following the atrocious attack against Mar Mari Emmanuel in Sydney, Australia, Patriarchate of Ancient Church of The East issued a condemnation statement.

“His Holiness Mar Gewargis III Younan, Catholicos-Patriarch of the Holy Apostolic Catholic Ancient Church of The East, along with Prelates, Clergy, and faithful of Our Church, condemn this act of terrorism and call on Australian Authorities to take the necessary steps to prevent such heinous acts,” read the statement.

The Patriarchate prayed that Savior Jesus Christ grant continued health and a swift recovery to Mar Mari Emmanuel and to all those injured by the attack.

“We pray and beseech the Lord that the people of Australia, as well as worldwide, may live in harmony, peace, and love,” the statement concluded.

According to circulated news by the Associated Press, Reuters, Washington Post, France 24 and others, the police considered the attack as a terrorist attack.

Mar Mari Emmanuel was stabbed during a church service at Christ The Good Shepherd Church in Sydney Australia. The assault was captured on video as the service was being streamed online.
