Qabre Hewore Association in Sweden commemorates Syriac intellectuals
NORRKÖPING, Sweden — Suroyo TV covered the commemoration event held by the Qabre Hewore Association in Sweden for 2 leading Syriac intellectuals from Qabre Hewore (Qahtaniayh), namely, Late Khuroyo Shlimon Hinno and Late Malfono Tuma Nahroyo.
Yacoub Ibrahim, Official of the Qabre Hewore Association in Sweden delivered a speech about the significant role of these two Syriac intellectuals in the national work.
Khuroyo Shlimon Hinno had worked on a book about the 1915 Sayfo Genocide and Malfono Tuma Nahroyo created many national and popular music.
During the event, Syriac artists George Issa and Naaman Hanna sang songs composed by Malfono Tuma Nahroyo in appreciation of his artistic works.
After that, poets recited poems inspired by the occasion and Roma Nahroyo, the granddaughter of Malfono Tuma Nahroyo presented some songs. This was followed by several words by family members of Malfono Tuma Nahroyo.
Family members of Khuroyo Shlimon Hinno also delivered touching speeches in which they recalled the importance of Hinno works in the Syriac language and love of the nation.
They also mentioned some of his works that left a great impact on history of Syriac (Aramean-Chaldean-Assyrian) people.
